Kadampa Quotes

A mobile-first experience that surfaces daily wisdom from Kadampa Buddhist teachings—calm, readable, and built for contemplation throughout the day.

Overview

Kadampa Quotes brings short, contemplative readings to users throughout the day. I defined product scope, user flows, and a visual language that feels calm and accessible—without leaning on religious clichés.

A holiday project scoped to MVP: I developed the concept, created the branding, and led product design. I also contributed roughly 30% of the code, and we launched within twenty days.

In Buddhism, the conch shell symbolises listening to instructions—it became the logo reference for the project.

Inspiration

What made this possible

I'm grateful to the Kadampa Buddhist community for their support and feedback—especially Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, founder of the New Kadampa Tradition and author of the books these quotes reference.

The project was also made possible by my friend Cosimo, a developer who helped bring the app to life.

Final product

Kadampa Quotes app

The app is live on the App Store and Google Play—made with care as an offering of service. No ads, no tracking, no third-party services. Read the published apps page for download links.

Reflection

Kadampa Quotes reinforced how much tone and pacing matter in a meditation-adjacent product. We avoided dark, mystical visuals in favour of a clean, readable layout with subtle colour.

It was also a rich opportunity to learn the full mobile app process—from design through development to launch. I even registered a UK company to publish on both major stores.

Next, I plan to refine the experience further and explore more personalisation based on user feedback.
