Meditate in MCR

Brand and visual identity for a Manchester meditation community—clear, welcoming, and rooted in the city's character.

Overview

The Kadampa Meditation Community in Manchester needed an identity that feels approachable and calm while working in urban, everyday contexts.

The project covered logo, colour, typography, and application guidelines so the brand could scale across events, venues, and online channels.

A full charitable branding project (July–September 2025): refreshing publicity for a small charity in Chorlton-cum-Hardy with a clearer, more contemporary feel.

Research drew on Manchester itself—its neighbourhoods, energy, and visual language.
From city centre to suburbs, Manchester shifts in tone; the identity needed to sit comfortably in that mix.
A launch piece to introduce the refreshed brand and showcase the charity's activities.

Further identity touchpoints—including a small renovation to the Victorian-style entrance of the meditation centre.

Digital

A distinctive mark that reads clearly at small sizes and in single-colour print.

A restrained palette and readable type aligned with a calm, inclusive tone.

Templates

Layouts for posters, social graphics, and everyday comms the team can publish quickly.

Practical notes on spacing, usage, and dos and don'ts for consistent application.

Reflection

The project ran from research through design to implementation—useful practice in keeping a charity brand distinctive yet easy for non-designers to apply day to day.

Thank you to the Kadampa Meditation Community in Manchester for the opportunity. It was a great experience and I'm proud to have been part of it.
