Privacy Policy

Gaydex stores app data locally on your device, including reading progress, quiz progress, saved topics and chats, reading playlists, avatar and display-name choice, onboarding status, age confirmation (18+), locale, Ask session state and usage counters, optional Ask reply feedback logs, Date Log entries, Health Companion medications and dose logs, notification preferences, haptic preferences, Send AI preference and AI-sharing consent, privacy settings (such as discretion mode and optional biometric locks for Date Log or Health), unlocked article ids, Plus catalog and offline article caches (when enabled), community news cache, like and popular-article caches, dismissed update or offer prompts, Spill the tea first-run hint and locally hidden community posts, and demo or subscription-related preferences.

On supported Apple devices, Health Companion may also mirror a limited medication snapshot to an App Group so home-screen or Apple Watch widgets can show reminders. That widget data stays on your devices; it is not uploaded to Gaydex servers.

This local data stays on your device unless you clear it in Settings or uninstall the app. We do not operate a Gaydex user account that syncs this private tool data to our servers today.

Gaydex may download Plus catalog metadata, article bodies and images you are entitled to read, public teaser art, community news/insights, and public like or popularity stats from our backend (Supabase). Those downloads are content delivery, not a sync of your Date Log or Health notes.

To unlock Plus article bodies, Gaydex may send a RevenueCat app user id and/or a short-lived Plus session token (and, when relevant, a list of locally unlocked article ids) so we can verify entitlement before returning paid content.

When you use Ask Gaydex with Send AI enabled and after you give permission, Gaydex sends data to our Supabase edge function and then to OpenAI (a third-party AI service) to generate a reply. That data can include: your question text; recent conversation history for that Ask session; related article context when you start Ask from an article (title, summary, and body); a catalog of article titles/ids and saved or read-later flags; and a compact profile snapshot (saved topic titles, playlist summaries, recent Date Log feelings without notes, Health Companion medication kinds without labels, and which tools you have). We do not send private Date Log notes or medication display names.

OpenAI processes this data to return an answer. Gaydex does not sell this information. Do not include information you would not want processed by those services.

If you rate an Ask Gaydex reply, Gaydex may also send the rating, a copy of the assistant reply, and related ids (such as message or article id) to our servers to help improve answers. A local copy may be kept on your device.

We ask for permission in the app before the first time Ask data is shared with OpenAI. You can turn Send AI off in Settings at any time; when it is off, questions stay on your device and are not sent to OpenAI.

Subscriptions, Gaydex Forever (lifetime) entitlements, and purchases—including one-time article unlocks—are processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat (including, on some Android builds, web checkout via an in-app browser). RevenueCat uses an anonymous app user id for your install or store account. Gaydex receives entitlement information needed to unlock Plus features and keeps unlocked article ids on your device. We may sync a non-authoritative list of unlocked article ids to RevenueCat as a subscriber attribute to help verify à-la-carte access; that attribute is not used to restore unlocks after reinstall. We do not receive your full payment card details.

If you enable reminders (for example Health Companion medication reminders, daily article reminders, or calendar drip release alerts), Gaydex schedules local notifications on your device. Notification permission is controlled in your system settings.

Weekly open nudges and remote “new article” pushes use Expo push. When those features are enabled, Gaydex stores an anonymous device id, Expo push token, timezone, preferred weekday/hour (for the weekly nudge), and language preference on our servers so we can reach you. You can turn related reminder options off in the app (for example on Home under New & coming soon). We do not use this to build a named user account.

When you like an article, Gaydex stores an anonymous device id and the article id on our servers so we can show a total like count and popular ranking. Likes are not tied to a named Gaydex account. You can unlike an article to remove your device’s like.

If you submit a community note on an article, Gaydex sends an anonymous device id, the article id, your note text, an optional display name you choose, and your language preference to our servers for moderation. Approved notes may be shown publicly with that display name, or without a name if you leave it blank. Pending and rejected notes are not shown publicly.

If you submit a Spill the tea post (“Is it just me?” or a confession), Gaydex sends an anonymous device id, your post text, and your language preference to our servers. We use OpenAI to help moderate the post and generate a short reply. Approved posts and replies may be shown publicly with a randomized avatar derived from a device hash (not your name). Rejected posts are not shown publicly; a private rejection message may be returned to you. If you report a post, we store your anonymous device id with the report. You can also hide individual posts locally on your device.

If you submit a topic idea for future articles, Gaydex sends an anonymous device id, your topic text, and your language preference to our servers for the editorial backlog. Topic ideas are not published as community posts. Rate limits may apply per device.

Gaydex may fetch public release information (latest version, build number, and store links) from our servers so we can optionally prompt you to update. Which update prompt you dismissed is stored on your device. This check does not upload your reading progress, Date Log, or Health data.

When you open a community news source link or certain checkout flows, Gaydex may load a third-party site in an in-app browser. Data you provide on those sites is governed by their policies, not this one.

Gaydex does not currently use third-party advertising SDKs or sell your personal information. Platform analytics that Apple or Google provide as part of app distribution may still apply under their policies.

Gaydex includes educational content about identity, relationships, intimacy, and health. Date Log and Health Companion entries you create may be especially sensitive. Optional biometric locks and discretion mode settings stay on your device. Treat your device lock screen, backups, and (on Apple) widget App Group data accordingly.

Gaydex is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

You can clear local Gaydex data from Settings, turn off Send AI, disable notifications in system settings, turn off weekly or new-article reminders in the app, manage privacy locks and discretion mode in Settings, decline optional submissions (notes, Spill the tea, topic ideas), and manage or cancel Plus subscriptions—or review Forever and article purchases—through your App Store or Google Play account.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves (for example if cloud accounts are added later). We will revise the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
